Charlotte – Bob Palisin, a retired Presbyterian minister from Cabarrus County, announced today that he will not file for Congress, and instead will work to elect Charlotte businessman Hal Jordan to that office.

Palisin, who has campaigned for Congress since Fall 2009, stated that Jordan was, “the Republicans’ best candidate to win the hotly contested 8th congressional district back from the Democrats.” Further, Palisin stated, “Hal Jordan’s conservative views align most closely with my own. Hal will fight for the best interest of the people of the District. After seeing Hal in action on the campaign trail, it became apparent to me that he is the right leader for the job.”

Jordan expressed his appreciation to Palisin for his support. “Bob Palisin is a true conservative and a leader who distinguished himself as an able candidate and messenger for our Party through the past several months,” Jordan remarked. “I welcome Bob’s support and believe that the momentum we are generating will continue to grow.”

Sunday, February 21, 2010 — Conservative Republican Hal Jordan brought his business-like approach and family-values message to Stanly County Republicans on Thursday evening.

Jordan is one of five announced Republicans seeking the 8th District nomination in the May 4 Primary.

Jordan has worked with IBM for 27 years in a variety of jobs. He and his wife, Jeannine, have lived in Charlotte the past 22 years and have four children.

“I was a political neophyte when I ran against Jim Black in 2006, but I promised to run a hard, tough campaign and I came within 30 votes of winning,” said Jordan, whose 2006 campaign helped expose the abuse of power by Black as the North Carolina Speaker of House.

“Jim Black embarrassed the Democrats and we almost won in a district that normally votes 70-30 Democratic.”

Saying running in 2010 is a personal sacrifice for him, Jordan declared he is running “to serve and make a difference.” He pointed to efforts through his church — Christ Covenant Church, where he serves as chairman of the deacons — as an example of his commitment to others.

“My biggest involvement over the years has been with the Mercy Outreach Ministry … it’s my passion. That’s where a lot of good is really done,” Jordan said.

“While I’m a Christian, I’m also a social conservative. In our Mercy Ministry we work one-on-one with individuals. They’re asked to take some accountability as we give them a hand-up, not a hand-out.”

Speaking to his fiscal conservative views, Jordan, who announced back in October that he would run for the 8th District, said: “After watching the first nine months of President Obama, I had to act. If we continue down this path, we will have no future. As it is today, I cannot look my children in the eyes and tell them you’ll have a better future than I have.”

Jordan said he would bring a “common sense, business-like approach” to solving the country’s economic woes and expects the country to elect 40 or more like-thinking new members to Congress in November.

“Our country is approaching bankruptcy, and in 5-6 years, we’ll not be able to service our debt if we don’t change our policies,” he said.

“I’m not trying to be a fear-monger, but we need to be serious about this thing. I think we can still solve this, and maybe, we need to cut across the board.”

Jordan said that he supports term limits for both the Senate and House, with two six-year terms for senators and 10 years total for representatives.

“Being a politician should not be a career. Too often long-term politicians are not about being public servants, but about the public serving them,” he said.

“Jim Black is a good example of that. Although I didn’t agree with all his positions, he was a good representative his first 10 years. But as he moved up in the ranks, his power went to his head.”

As for creating jobs, Jordan said: “We don’t want temporary jobs created by government. Private enterprise should provide the jobs. We’ve got to have fair trade, if we don’t, they’ll make everything and will own us. America used to be the greatest producer nation, we’ve become the greatest debtor nation. At the end of the day, America has more natural resources than most any nation on earth. We’re just not tapping them.”

I am pleased to announce that our campaign has reported a strong quarter of fundraising! In fact, the FEC report for the 4th quarter of 2009 shows that out of the six announced Republican candidates in the 8th Congressional District race, our campaign raised the second highest amount of money. Our campaign is focused, organized and in a strong position to win the May 4th Republican primary.

In 2006, I received an overwhelming amount of support in my effort to defeat North Carolina House Speaker Jim Black. Despite running in one of the most Democrat-leaning districts in the state, I came within 30 votes of upsetting Black and helped expose his corruption in the process. I am proud of the support I received and the hard work we put into that race. By waging a similar effort for Congress in a much more favorable district for a Republican, I am confident that we will be victorious.

I encourage you to take a close look at my online campaign headquarters. I need you to donate, volunteer and keep up to date on our campaign events. As a committed social and fiscal conservative, I intend to win this race with your help.

Thanks to all of you who continue to support my campaign with your generous contributions, volunteer hours and prayers.

God Bless,

Hal

Businessman, Family Man Pledges to Represent District’s Conservative Values

Hal Jordan, a well-known and respected businessman and political leader, announced today that he is a candidate for the 8th District seat in the United State Congress. Jordan, 50, declared that as a Congressman, he would represent the conservative values of the Eighth Congressional District.

“Our current Congressman, Larry Kissell, is a reliable vote for Nancy Pelosi and the Liberal Democrat Leadership in Congress,” Jordan said. “Mr. Kissell seems to be more concerned about the liberal political agenda of Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi than what is in the best interest of the people he represents. I want to serve in Congress to represent the people’s priorities and their conservative values.”

Jordan announced that he planned to run an aggressive, issues-oriented campaign. “People are tired of business as usual in Washington, D.C. The citizens of the Eight District deserve leadership that is focused on solving problems rather than playing politics.” Jordan continued, “I will be a voice for citizens who value solving problems more than political games, and I will be an advocate for everyone who believes government should be more efficient and effective.”

Jordan is a successful businessman who has been employed by IBM for 27 years as a programmer, systems engineer, IT architect and software sales specialist. Jordan and has received numerous technical and sales awards including the company’s highest recognition, the Gerstner Award for Client Excellence. Jordan is also well-known in political circles, having come within 30 votes of defeating Speaker of the North Carolina House Jim Black in 2006 in one of the most Democrat-leaning districts in the State.

Jordan holds a Bachelor of Arts in Government and Politics from the University of Maryland, graduating with Phi Kappa Phi Honors in 1982. Hal and Jeannine Jordan have been married for 27 years and have four children. The Jordans have resided in Mecklenburg County for the past 22 years and are active members of Christ Covenant Church, where Hal serves as Chairman of Deacons and serves in Mercy Outreach. Jordan is also a former Fundraising Chairman of Boy Scout Troop 413, a position he held for five years.
